From the North Carolina Board of Elections: “On July 29, a panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit struck down photo ID requirements and associated laws in North Carolina”

Wisconsin

  • Current Law
    • Restrictive voter ID law and restriction on individual voter registration
    • Reduced early voting hours on weekdays and eliminated weekend voting hours
      • These laws on hold pending litigation alleging intentional discrimination

Tennessee

  • Current Law
    • Restrictive voter ID law
    • Reduced early voting period
    • Require documentary proof of citizenship to register to vote
        Applies only to individuals flagged by state officials as potential non-citizens

New Hampshire

  • Current Law
    • Restrictive voter ID law
    • Enacted SB 3 which makes voter registration more difficult for college students
    • SB 3 heightens requirements for some people and criminalizes voting with the potential for a $5,000 fine or jail time

Missouri

  • Current Law
    • Photo ID is required but voting a regular ballot is permitted if voter signs an affidavit

Michigan

Iowa

  • Current Law
    • Made it more difficult to restore voting rights for individuals with criminal convictions
    • Restrictive voter ID law
    • New law cut back on early and absentee voting opportunities (from 40 days to 29)
    • Restrictions on voter registration drives and Election Day voter registration

 

Georgia

  • Current Law
    • Restrictive voter ID law
    • Cut early voting period
    • Cut early voting the weekend before Election Day
    • Require documentary proof of citizenship to register to vote
        Federal appeals court blocked on 9/9/2016. Subject to further litigation
    • Enacted HB 268 which makes voter registration more difficult
    • HB 268 a 26-month deadline for applicants to correct voter registration discrepancies

Florida

    • Photo ID requested to vote
    • Cut early voting period
    • Restricted voter registration drives
    • Made it more difficult to restore voting rights for individuals with criminal convictions
