End Citizens United and Let America Vote Endorse Barbara Bollier for Senate in Kansas

Bollier has put cleaning up Washington corruption at the forefront of her Senate campaign

End Citizens United (ECU) and Let America Vote (LAV) today endorsed Barbara Bollier for U.S. Senate in Kansas. Bollier has made government ethics and fighting to protect Kansans’ right to vote priorities of her campaign, including laying out a plan to support a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United, reinstate a ban on corporate money in politics and advocate for stricter measures to stop government officials from joining lobbying firms.

“As one of the most bipartisan state legislators in Kansas, Barbara Bollier co-sponsored legislation to stop the revolving door with corporate lobbyists,” said ECU and LAV President Tiffany Muller. “Meanwhile, Mitch McConnell and the corrupt majority continue to lead the attack against voters’ access to the ballot and put Big Money special interests ahead of Kansas families. Barbara will be an accountable leader for Kansans in Congress, and we’re proud to endorse her.”

“For too long, corporate special interests and career politicians have profited off of Washington’s dysfunction and fought against common sense legislation to improve our government,” said Barbara Bollier. “I’ve worked to bring people together on issues that impact Kansans every day, like lowering the cost of prescription drugs and making sure our schools are adequately funded. I’m proud to have End Citizens United and Let America Vote’s endorsement, and I look forward to working with them to achieve comprehensive campaign finance reform and protect the right to vote.”

bipartisan poll shows that a majority of voters see corruption in the political system as the most serious problem facing the country, especially among independents. The poll also finds that unlimited, undisclosed political contributions and the influence of big money in politics are seen as major problems.

End Citizens United and Let America Vote (LAV) recently merged to combat the two biggest challenges facing our democracy: Big Money and voter suppression. ECU is dedicated to getting Big Money out of politics and fixing the rigged system in Washington so that the government works for all Americans. LAV is building a grassroots effort to fight back against voter suppression and protect every American’s right to vote.

ECU and LAV will work to end our rigged political system by electing reform champions, passing meaningful legislative reforms, and elevating these issues in the national conversation. ECU has more than four million members nationwide, including 22,500 in Kansas, and is entirely grassroots-funded with an average donation of just $14. In 2018, over 1,000 LAV grassroots volunteers knocked on over 340,000 doors, made 112,000 calls, and sent 341,000 texts to help elect 100 pro-democracy leaders.
