Statement on NH House Vote to Defeat Bill Disenfranchising College Students

Following action by the New Hampshire House of Representatives to defeat HB 1543, a bill that would disenfranchise student voters in the state, Let America Vote President Jason Kander made the following statement:

“While it’s a relief that Republicans listened to New Hampshire students and families and shelved this particular effort to disenfranchise college students, HB 1543 was one of several bills making its way through the legislature designed to strip rights away from student voters. Now is the perfect time for Governor Sununu to reaffirm his opposition to any legislation that would disenfranchise college student voters and commit to vetoing HB 372 and HB 1264.”

Let America Vote will open its New Hampshire office this spring to organize voting rights activists and defeat vote-suppressing politicians in the 2018 elections.
