Let America Vote statement on Election Day 2018

Kansas City, MO — Let America Vote Board Chairman Abe Rakov released the following statement in recognition of Election Day:

“Anti-democracy politicians have spent months, and in some cases years, putting up barriers to stop eligible voters from voting. Their goal is to rig our elections in their favor,” Let America Vote Board Chairman Abe Rakov said.“Today is the day that we fight back against this un-American crusade. Today, we’re going to defeat vote suppressors at the ballot box and elect voting-rights champions in their place.”

“We look forward to the results tonight with optimism for American democracy,” Rakov said. “And tomorrow, Let America Vote will start again to ensure in 2019, 2020 and beyond that there are political consequences for disenfranchising eligible voters.”

Let America Vote is committed to creating political consequences for politicians who suppress eligible Americans’ right to vote. Since launching in 2017, LAV has been proud to support statewide and federal candidates across the country who make voting rights a priority.

In 2018, LAV operated field offices and supported dozens of candidates with extensive field operations in five states, alongside a national distributed organizing program. The organization partnered with iVote on Secretary of State races across the country in special recognition of the critical need for pro-voting officials in those offices.

Hundreds of LAV volunteers have been knocking doors and making one-on-one connections with voters in Georgia, Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire and Tennessee since June, and will keep knocking until the polls close tonight.

Voters can check their registration status and find their polling place at iwillvote.com.
