Jason Kander Statement on Voters Canceling Registration in Response to Pence/Kobach Data Request

Following reports that voters across the country have canceled their voter registration after the Pence/Kobach commission requested personal information for every voter in the country, Let America Vote President Jason Kander released the following statement:

“President Trump is actively working to undermine faith in American democracy. If he can motivate anyone to pull out of the democratic process, he achieves his goal of making it easier for him to get re-elected. Republicans, Democrats and Independents are all fighting back against this political move that will make it easier for businesses, criminals and foreign governments to get personal data from every voter in America. Let America Vote and activists across the country are doing everything we can to slow them down and to protect voters’ private information.”

The Colorado Independent yesterday reported that 3,394 Coloradoans withdrew their voter registration between June 28th and July 13th.
