Jason Kander Statement on Ed Gillespie’s New Ad Opposing Voting Rights

Following the release of Ed Gillespie’s latest ad, which touts his opposition to voting rights and attempts to criticize Ralph Northam for his career of voting rights advocacy, Let America Vote President Jason Kander released the following statement:

“President Trump ran his campaign by spreading lies about crime and immigration, and he lost Virginia by five points. Now Ed Gillespie is using the same strategy, but he reached a new low by attacking Ralph Northam’s career as a voting rights advocate. Ralph Northam wants to make sure that every eligible Virginian can vote, which shouldn’t be controversial. But Ed Gillespie has shown throughout his campaign that all he knows how to do is watch for signals from the White House to see what he should be for or against as he tries to copy Trump’s failed Virginia playbook. I’m proud to support Ralph Northam for governor because he will fight for every Virginian’s right to participate in the democracy he signed up to protect while in the Army.”
