Let America Vote to Join End Citizens United Network to Fight to Unrig the System

End Citizens United (ECU) today announced a merger with Let America Vote (LAV). Merging the two organizations will allow the groups to take a holistic approach to two of the biggest challenges facing our democracy: big money and voter suppression. End Citizens United and Let America Vote will be joint PACs subject to FEC donation limits. As part of the announcement, ECU will be shutting down LAV’s super PAC and its 501(c)4 arms of the organization. ECU also announced it will expand its state-level operations to support reform-minded candidates at all levels in North Carolina, Arizona, and New Hampshire.

The affiliation with Let America Vote boosts End Citizens United’s mission to make our democracy work for everyone, not just the special interests, and provides ECU with a proven grassroots organizing model. By joining with ECU, LAV will have the power of ECU’s effective and experienced political team and its 4 million members and 600,000 donors behind its efforts to protect the right to vote, which is being suppressed by politicians aligned with Big Money special interests who know their agenda is at risk when more people vote.

“End Citizens United is thrilled to be merging with Let America Vote, a group that has made voting rights a national priority, and through its proven record of grassroots organizing, has become a model of success,” said Tiffany Muller, president of End Citizens United. “Our groups’ missions are intrinsically linked, and our solution must be linked as well. We look forward to combining our resources to help elect more reformers and protect the right to vote.”

“Let America Vote has proven that we can make a difference in elections and policy making all over the country through effective grassroots organizing,” said Jason Kander, founder of Let America Vote. “Under the umbrella of End Citizens United, we’ll be able to expand our efforts across the country to protect the right to vote and make democracy work for all Americans, a vision that’s central to both organizations. End Citizens United is a smart, strategic, and influential organization, and it’s the perfect fit for LAV. We look forward to this new coalition.”

ECU is dedicated to getting Big Money out of politics and fixing the rigged system in Washington so that the government works for all Americans. The reform group has raised more than $80 million from grassroots, small dollar donors since it launched in 2015. The average contribution is $14. In 2018, ECU helped elect 58 challengers to the U.S. House in 2018, helping take back the majority. The group is leading the movement to reject corporate PAC money in elections.

LAV is dedicated to fighting back against voter suppression and protecting every American’s right to vote. Since its founding in 2017, Let America Vote has attempted more than 1 million voter contacts. In 2018, over 1,000 LAV grassroots volunteers knocked on over 340,000 doors, made 111,900 calls, and sent 341,000 texts to help elect 100 pro-democracy leaders.
