How Indivisible Chicago is Standing Up for Voting Rights

At Let America Vote, we’ve never been more sure of our mission to end voter suppression. Restrictive and discriminatory laws have had a devastating impact on voting rights for far too long — and this week’s headlines confirm that too many voices have been silenced, in an effort to unilaterally build political power for leaders too afraid to argue their case to their own constituents. That’s why we’re ramping up our own efforts and supporting the work of groups like Indivisible Chicago, who are organizing on the front lines at the local and state levels to fight voter suppression in their own backyards.

Indivisible Chicago has put the heat on the Illinois State Board of Elections to end its participation in Crosscheck, a voter registration program run by Kris Kobach’s colleagues that yields 99.5 percent false positives and intentionally manipulates data.

Simply put: they use this program to deny voter registration applications and to disenfranchise people (disproportionately affecting people of color) who they don’t want to vote. We encourage you to read more about their efforts and support their work, here.
