Jason Kander Joins Activists in New Hampshire Calling on Trump’s Sham Election Commission to End Assault on Voting Rights

Let America Vote President Jason Kander today joined progressive and activist groups in New Hampshire at St. Anselm College, outside the meeting of President Trump’s election integrity commission, to correct the falsehoods spread by the commission and to call for its termination. Kander joined Granite State Progress, the New Hampshire chapter of America Votes and the New Hampshire ACLU at a press conference attended by close to 200 local activists pledging to hold accountable politicians perpetrating voter suppression.

“New Hampshire voters are fed up with the lies that President Trump and his sham voting commission are spreading about voter fraud in their state,” said Jason Kander, President of Let America Vote. “The foundation of Trump’s sham commission is the biggest lie ever told by a U.S. President—that millions of illegal votes were cast in the last election. For that reason, and because hyper-partisan politicians with histories supporting voter suppression were chosen as its leaders, the commission should not exist. Governor Sununu and Republicans in the New Hampshire legislature will face consequences for their bad decisions when Let America Vote opens its New Hampshire office next year. But today, I was proud to stand with a grassroots group of Granite Staters who won’t let President Trump, Secretary Kobach and Governor Sununu get away with stealing their votes.”

New Hampshire is one of five states where Let America Vote will open a field office next year to help elect voting rights champions in the 2018 elections. Let America Vote’s five offices will follow the same model as its Virginia office, which has knocked on 135,000 doors in its first two months of operation to elect voting rights advocates in targeted legislative races and Ralph Northam in the governor’s race. Other states to open field offices include Nevada, Tennessee, Georgia and Iowa.
