Jason Kander Statement on Kris Kobach’s Run for Kansas Governor

Let America Vote President Jason Kander made the following statement in response to notorious advocate of voter suppression Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach’s announcement that he will run for governor of Kansas in 2018:

“Secretary Kobach’s involvement in government at any level is a serious threat to voting rights in America, but having executive power over an entire state would be devastating. Kobach has wasted Kansas’ taxpayer dollars year after year on unsuccessful attempts to prove his false claims of widespread voter fraud in an effort to further his political career.

“Secretary Kobach is not just another politician putting his interests before his constituents–he’s worse. His aim is to change the election landscape in our country so that voting becomes a privilege for certain Americans and not a right for all of us.

“Let America Vote will make sure that Secretary Kobach answers for every time he stands in the way of eligible voters and the ballot box.”
